On Wednesday 14th, the Alternative Film Festival held it's Summer 2017 awards ceremony which both "The Distances Between" and "Control" were nominated for a few awards in the Super Short category. Even though I wasn't able to attend in person the ceremony was streamed live through Facebook and so I got to watch the winners being announced live by festival organiser Jenell Diegor.
It was absolutely thrilling to hear "The Distances Between" win its first ever awards for Best Drama and Best Actress for Arlene's beautiful performance. There were just no words for the excitement and honour to take home not one but two awards out of the four we were nominated for.
When speaking to festival organiser, I asked her what made her nominate "The Distances Between" in the first place. "The Distances Between explores deep emotional issues between couples who contemplate a long-distance relationship - an all too realistic a scenario that many in the audience may be familiar with. Superb performances by Arlene McKenna and Tim Pollack!" - Jenell Diegor, Director of the Alternative Film Festival.
